Hanukkah Meal Suggestion

I looked long and hard for a meal plan that would work for the holiday, but not break the
bank on carbohydrates.  It was not easy, and I still am not totally satisfied with my
results.  I am not Jewish, but tried to look for recipes and foods that would work for a
kosher meal.  If I did not follow the rules for kosher, I am sorry.

A traditional meal usually consists of:
Chicken Soup
Brisket
Potato Latkes
Applesauce
Green Salad
Jelly Doughnuts
Hanukkah gelt

With these items a person’s blood sugars would surely go through the roof.  Here is a
menu plan that I think would still be satisfying, follow kosher rules and still maintain a
good balance of carbs for healthy eating.

Chicken Soup (5 grams of carbs per serving)
Brisket with Onions and Tomatoes (125milligrams carbs per serving)
Latkes (9 grams carbs per serving)
applesauce
green salad with Vinaigrette
fresh fruit salad

You could serve all these and not eat all of them.  I have a good recipe for Zucchini
Cakes which are a lot like latkes, but it uses Parmesan Cheese so would not be kosher.

HAPPY HANUKKAH
Enjoy your celebrations!!!

Every year between the end of November and the end of December, Jewish people
around the world celebrate the holiday of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. Hanukkah
begins on the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev, but the starting date on the
western calendar varies from year to year. The holiday celebrates the events which
took place over 2,300 years ago in the land of Judea, which is now Israel.Jews
celebrate Chanukah to mark the victory over the Syrians and the rededication of the
Jerusalem Temple. The Festival of the Lights, Hanukkah, lasts for eight days to
commemorate the miracle of the oil. The word Chanukah means "rededication"

In America, families celebrate Hanukkah at home. They give and receive gifts, decorate
the house, entertain friends and family, eat special foods, and light the holiday
menorah. The Hanukkah menorah is called a HANUKIYAH. It has nine candle holders.
There are eight candles, one for each night of Hanukkah. There seems to be some
confusion surrounding the actual spelling of Chanukah. Part of the reason for this
confusion may be due to the fact there is no exact English translation of the Hebrew
word for Hanukkah . Some of them are Chanukah, Chanukkah , Hannukah, Khanukkah
and many more. Spinning the dreidel is a game that's traditionally played during the
Hebrew festival of Hannukah. The dreidel is a four-sided top. The four sides are
marked with the Hebrew letters "Nun", "Gimmel", "Heh", and "Shin".
